We envision a future that doesn’t use toxic chemicals to protect our crops or our lawns. We are working toward that future buy devloping innovative natural products that destroy diseases yet leave no environmental trace. We also envision a future where everything from industrial materials to biopharmaceuticals can be made in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner. At PhylloTech, we are working on these objectives using the latest advances in plant science.
Technology
1. Our core technology is a family of novel secreted plant proteins that inhibit a broad range of agricultural pathogens. These antimicrobial proteins, termed Phylloplanins, are the next generation of environmentally-friendly fungicides.
2. Our plant bioproduction technology allows for the environmentally-friendly production of protein-based biomaterials by utilizing specialized leaf surface structures called Trichomes. Our system avoids the high costs of protein purification associated with other plant production systems by utilizing a natural method of protein purification from underlying plant tissues.
Strategy
PhylloTech is performing research on the cutting edge of plant science with a robust R&D program that bridges agriculture, biotechnology, and clean technology. PhylloTech’s commercialization plan is to partner with larger companies through licensing agreements and to also develop standalone products under the PhylloTech label in niche product areas.
