Phylloplanin Technology

Our core technology, discovered in 2004 by company founders Dr. George Wagner and Dr. Ryan Shepherd, is a novel family of secreted plant proteins that inhibit a broad range of agricultural pathogens.  These antimicrobial proteins, termed Phylloplanins, are the next generation of environmentally-friendly biofungicides.

Phylloplanins are produced in leaf surface structures called glandular secreting trichomes.  In this magnified image of a leaf surface, green fluorescent protein is being expressed specifically in trichome gland cells.
